The Ceremony-to-Reception Goody Bag
March 20th 2008 10:42
If the wedding ceremony and reception area are two different places and quite a distance from each other, there's a possibility that guests may be inconvenienced. It's a truth that you have to accept! Sometimes guests join the ceremony but not the reception anymore because of this. In some cases, even if they confirm their attendance at the reception, once they face traffic they just disappear. At least you'll know who your real friends are!
Here's an idea to make the transition from ceremony venue to reception a little easier and maybe fun for your guests.
After the ceremony, have your groomsmen and bridesmaids distribute a little bag of goodies that guests can snack on while they're on the way to your reception.
While you can serve cocktails at the reception to pacify guests who may have been irked by traffic or long waiting times, maybe the little bag of goodies can calm them down while they're in the car.
Some suggestions for the goody bag:
Chocolates
Fortune cookies
A little note thanking the guests for celebrating the ceremony with you, and that you hope they'd join you at the reception too
Mints
Chapstick
Facial wipes (for refreshing!)
Disposable camera
Confetti they can throw in the air when you and your new spouse enter the reception hall
Tissue
While your wedding day is about you, you and you, do consider that the guests made time to celebrate this special day with you too. While you're the star, don't forget that you have to take care of them as well, even through those little details.
