American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld

American Wife is about a young woman's path from quiet anonymity to extraordinary responsibility as First Lady of the United States.
What I liked about the book was that Alice Lindgren was kept relatable despite her [apprehensive] rise to fame. I also enjoyed taking a peek into the dynamics of her marriage to rich and boisterous Charlie Blackwell, and how she dealt with the inconsistencies and unexpected challenges (threats?) that came into their marriage. I got bored towards the last part though when the book became more about politics and less about the character. Or maybe the character was evolving into being so immersed with politics... either way, I'm not into politics so I zzz'ed out towards the end.
Still, I enjoyed this book very much. It encouraged me to learn more about Laura Bush, as it is said the book is loosely based on her life.
