7 Ways to Get Fit For Your Wedding

March 17th 2008 12:10
Get that perfect figure!

Getting fit for your wedding is possible, whether it's still a couple of years away or in a few months. Who doesn't want to look dashing in a tux, spectacular in a wedding dress? You'd want to look your best for your big day, of course! Just imagine all the pictures that will haunt you years later...

While vanity may be your motivation for getting in shape, it's better than nothing. It would be best for you as well to continue being conscious of your health even after the wedding day.

Here's what you can do to get into the groove of getting fit for your wedding:

1. Evaluate your health. Consult a doctor before taking on any new exercise programs.

2. Consult the experts for your fitness routine. While you know you want to look good, how do you get there? Do you need to lose weight or tone up here and there? What foods should you start eliminating and incorporating in your diet? Crash diets sound appealing, but it would be best to consult a nutritionist for this.

Consulting experts is also ideal because this will greatly lessen your chances of getting injured. They can best tailor-fit a fitness plan for you.

3. Eat more but smaller meals everyday. Instead of gorging on a gigantic breakfast, humongous lunch and rich dinner, why not eat six mini-meals per day? Please don't starve yourself -- you'll just end up binging more and you'll feel weak. So it's either you'll gain more weight or look too frail. Neither one is good. So pack on those mini-meals for energy and nutrition.

4. Maintain a positive mindset. Once you get your fitness and meal routines going for you, stay positive. The first few weeks might be so hard to adjust to, but you know what they say -- do something straight for 21 days and it'll be a habit. Remember your motivation. Picture yourself in that gorgeous tux or gown. It'll make you pump harder and drop that bagel!

5. Get a gym buddy. When you've got someone who shares your desire to get fit, going to the gym together might be more fun (and bearable). Why not sign on with your partner? More bonding time with him/her too! In sickness and in health, remember?

6. Relaaaax. No matter how jam-packed your day's schedules are, make sure you have enough rest time. Get enough sleep. The wedding preparations will be crazy, working out will be crazy too. Don't push yourself too much as you might get sick and even more stressed out. Who wants to be Groomzilla and Bridezilla? Key to this is knowing when to take a step back, breathe deeply and relaaaax.

7. Start NOW. The sooner you start, the fitter you will be for that big day.

Getting fit gives you more energy and will make you glow. You feel better on the inside too, so your self-confidence will have a healthy boost! And getting fit for your wedding day doesn't stop there, your new fit self will also be good for that honeymoon. Wink, wink! Good luck!

How do you like them apples?
